How often have you flipped through your closet or dresser looking for the cutest outfit for the day and you feel like you just have nothing…NOTHING to wear? Well, there are things to wear, but they aren’t cute…or they are outdated…or they are a little too tight and your muffin top hangs over. Are you tired of moving those hangers yet? Do you need some ideas to make your old outfits look new or are you looking for something new to add to your closet? Look no further! Spring is here and summer is coming and you need ideas FAST. You just have to have some cute outfits for spring and summer. Busy mom, right? What can you throw together that’s cute and makes you look good, too? Read on to find some suggestions.
Spruce up something you already have.
I am not a crafty person, but I recently saw some posts where ladies cut the collar off an old t-shirt and made it hang off the shoulder. They wore a tank top under it and it looked so stylish. Not sure I could pull that off, but it was cute on them. I found a few examples on how to make old clothes new again and I realized we used to do some of these things as younger gals.
Cut off shorts! Your jeans that have rips in them are back in style, by the way, but if you don’t like them, cut them off! Make sure the legs are even, though. You can also take a t-shirt and put a stencil on it. Spray diluted bleach over the stencil and you now have a cool t-shirt to wear. Put a comment down below to show ways you have jazzed up your old outfits.
Pair something older with something newer.
Add a new shirt to an existing pair of bottoms and it instantly makes the outfit look better. Better yet, make it a little bit dressier than the bottoms and pair it with a cute pair of shoes. Or…take an old shirt and wear new pants, shorts, or a cute skirt! Skirts and shorts are great for the spring and summer, especially with rich colors.
Add some accessories or new shoes.
You might not have newer clothes, but you can always jazz up an outfit with jewelry or a new purse. A great pair of shoes can make or break an outfit. One thing that I can’t stand is a nice outfit and then boom, old grungy shoes. I mean, make some effort! Or at least look like it! Even shoes from Walmart are cuter and better looking than old, dirty shoes. Nobody needs to know how much you paid for them, but you know us moms. We are like, “Thanks, I got these from Walmart! Can you believe it!”
Get rid of stuff you never wear and add something new!
Come on! We’ve all done it! You know you are waiting to lose 5 pounds in order to fit into that shirt or those shorts! Well, it hasn’t happened yet and that shirt is 450 years old. It’s probably out of style anyway. Go on…donate it! Do it, mama! If you haven’t worn it in 2 seasons, it’s time to let it go. (I bet you started singing the theme song to Frozen after that one, huh?)
Now is the time to thin out your spring and summer collection and add new pieces. You don’t have to do it all at once, but you should. Keep a bag or small box in the closet and put pieces you have not worn in a while away for donation. When you get a pile, get rid of it. Each year you should find some fresh, new tops and bottoms to add to the mix. Let go of the shirts that have fuzz bunnies on them and opt for some low cost slimming t-shirts or casual tops that are in style. Get rid of the too loose or too tight bottoms that cramp your style and your figure. Grab some shorts and skirts that can match any of your tops. They don’t have to be pricey! You won’t regret it and your wardrobe won’t either.
