PurSources Urea 40% Cream Review

Are you embarrassed to show your feet? Are they as cracked and dry as a dried up river bed during a drought? You have tried every cream, lotion, and exfoliating technique on the internet and STILL have calluses and cracks! You are embarrassed and don’t wear sandals because nothing soaks in those feet! I feel your pain. All my life I have struggled with severe dry feet and nothing soaks into them. Scrubbing them with a pumice or cutter just made them infected. I tried everything on the shelves and nothing worked.

Look no further! Boy, do I have something for you that will change your life! It changed mine!

It all started when I was finally frustrated enough to head to the podiatrist for a ripped off toenail (TMI and another story). I happened to ask him what I could do about my dry feet. He gave me a prescription for a urea cream and it was about $80. I just about croaked, but that stuff worked pretty well. I got to diggin’ around on the internet and found out why. Urea. It’s beautiful magic! Nothing I had ever heard of before in a product. All I thought of was urine. Well, you look it up. It kinda is, but this urea stuff is actually made in a lab. So, don’t freak out thinking I am making you buy some pee-pee cream. (That’s what we call it at home, though.)

You can get all sorts of lotions with urea in them, but they only work on slightly dry skin. My prescription brand only had 10%, but I needed more to do the job. I even tried 20% which worked well, but didn’t get rid of everything.

You have got to get the big daddy 40% stuff.

Insert PurSources 40% Urea creme. Well, it says creme, but it’s more like a watery creme or lotion.

What is PurSources 40% Urea Creme.

It is a lotion like cream that promises to “deeply moisturize and soften your feet for phenomenal results!” Well, it DOES. It worked so well for me that I shared it with my brother whose feet and legs look like a giant lizard. (Sorry, brother if you have read this, but you know it’s true!) After one application, the scales started falling off.

How does PurSources 40% Urea Creme work?

Well, to start with, it contains a bunch of essential oils along with urea to moisturize and rehydrate the skin. The urea is what we call a keratolytic. It softens the keratin and dissolves it while increasing moisture in the skin. It’s like the Pac-Man of the dry skin world, going around eating all the dead skin ghosts. You can tell a big difference the first night you use it. As you keep using it each day, your skin looks better and better. Yes, I said skin because you can use it all over your body. It’s not just for the feet, although it works best with feet. You should wear socks or gloves to help keep the moisture in after you apply. Be sure to test it on a small place before rubbing it all over your body just in case it is too strong for you.

Features

It works really well on feet, hands, elbows, and knees, but you can apply it anywhere you are extra lizard like. You should use it once a day over a period of a couple weeks for the best benefit. I typically only have to use it for 2 to 3 days and then only once every few months to get benefits. It is really up to the individual needs of a person. Warning – it is a bit hard to rub in all the way. You will have a chalky residue left over that you can wipe off. I am not sure why it leaves a residue, but it does. I usually have to get a damp rag the next morning, but you can totally just shower or wipe it off. It’s worth it!

FAQ’s

Is it recommended for keratosis (chicken skin)? Yes

Can it be used on children? Ask your doctor first, because children have more sensitive skin.

Tested on animals? No

Is this better than ammonium lactate? Check out this article. Basically, it is more effective.

Where is it made? USA

Pros and Cons

Pros – it eats all the lizard skin, it has essential oils in it, makes your feet look great

Cons – it is about $15 for a small tub (but worth it), it will take a while if you have really bad feet, it is smelly in the jar (but not on you)

Alternatives

Ebeanel – also contains Salicylic Acid (which may burn if your skin is cracked) and a couple essential oils. It is basically the same stuff with a few differing ingredients. The reviews on this one say the cream is more liquefied and spills easily. Made in USA.

Mesandy – also contains Salicylic Acid and several other oils. It also has oatmeal, so those with allergies, like me, need to pay attention to the ingredients. Has good reviews, but warns users of a flier that comes with the product that is spammy. Also, it is made in China.

Honorable Mentions

Eucerin Urea Repair Plus – has 10% urea for a daily lotion – use twice daily, but not strong enough for stubborn areas

Eucerin Advanced Repair – does not say how much urea is in it, so it is not much, but great for everyday use. This is what I use every day. For sure not strong enough for stubborn areas.
